Aki’s Woolloomooloo

It’s the Curry Club’s Christmas extravaganza – so we pulled out all stops and headed off to the highly recommended Aki’ in downtown Woolloomooloo.


Situated on Woolloomooloo’s Finger Wharf, Aki’s has a great location offering outside dining if clement weather. Being an overcast Wednesday evening we elected to sit inside where it was quiet and restrained but a nice atmosphere non the less.

We chose dishes from the A La Carte Menu with  the mixed platter (Lamb Cutlets, Murg Malai Tikka and Lamb Kebabs), Beetroot Vada and Baingan Jaipuri for Entree – all excellent. Mains included Chicken Chettinad, Railway Goat Curry (the indian equivalent of roadkill?) and Vendakai Sundal (okra with chickpeas) for the Vegi amongst us. All very good. Stand out dishes:  Lamb Cutlets and Curried Goat.

Attentive and efficient if not overly friendly. Comprehensive wine list.

One of the pricier establishments we have visited largely due to being a fully licenced venue with no BYO available and subsequent hefty mark up on the wine. $90 per head.
